Top men's seed Taylor Dent of the U.S. will meet two-time VanOpen champion Dudi Sela in the biggest matchup at the Hollyburn Country Club on Saturday.
Sela survived his third straight three-set match, this time winning 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4) over Marinko Matosevic of Australia.
Dent needed three sets as well, but blew away compatriot Bobby Reynolds in the decider, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in the late match on Centre Court.
Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis will be favoured in the other men's semifinal against American Lester Cook.
Berankis, the world's top junior in 2007 and the No. 4 seed at the VanOpen, defeated No. 6 seed Jesse Levine of the U.S. 6-3, 6-4. Cook knocked off qualifier James Ward of Great Britain 6-2, 7-5.
On the women's side, defending champion Stephanie Dubois of Laval, Que., is out after losing 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 to qualifier Irina Falconi of the U.S.
Dubois, the No. 5 seed and only remaining Canadian in the draw after 13 began the competition, had rolled through her first two rounds, dropping only five games.
Falconi will face former world No. 4 Jelena Dokic in one semifinal after the Australian fourth seed put away wild card Shelby Rogers of the U.S. 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the early evening match on Centre Court.

No. 6 seed Virginie Razzano of France takes on unseeded American Christina McHale in the other women's semifinal.
Razzano finally put an end to qualifier Gail Brodsky's good run here, beating the American 7-5, 6-1.
McHale, 18, is hot off an impressive run to the round of 16 at the $700,000 Stanford WTA event. She downed No. 7 seed Lilia Osterloh of the U.S. 6-4, 6-4.
